Nature lovers should also consider a visit to Ramsey Island near St David’s (a 30-minute drive). This RSPB Reserve has spectacular bird cliffs, coastal scenery and heaths. It also boasts the most important grey seal breeding colony in southern Britain, with over 400 seal pups born each autumn.
For keen birders, this is one of the best sites in Wales to see choughs, but it also has breeding ravens, buzzards, wheatears, gulls, auks, shearwaters, razorbills and guillemots. Tourist boats sail around the island and there is a ferry service from St Justinian’s RNLI lifeboat station to the Island from Easter – 31 October.
