There is an inexplicable gap in the diary for this spring half-term (well, the English one anyway). Two families (plus pets) could flee the city to spend a week on the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast, walking the cliffs and beaches, or exploring castles and historic sites by day, while wining and dining in front of roaring logs fires by night. Wildlife enthusiasts can have a field day with the huge flocks of winter migrant waders and wildfowl. The water is still surprisingly warm (particularly for small people wearing wetsuits), but there are indoor play areas at Blue Lagoon Water Park. A week’s accommodation at Glebe House (11 – 18 February) for 8 – 10 is just £600. (For empty-nesters or those with pre-school children it is also available at £500 for most of Jan, Feb and March).
